Luftauto 002

Making its debut at Luftgekühlt 4 on May 7, 2017, the second edition of Luftauto has arrived. A first look at this collaboration quickly reveals Signal Yellow as a bold next step. Beneath the color, a Rothsport-built 3.2 engine matched to a G50 gearbox with updated rally ratios constitute another progressive leap. Joey Seely, Patrick Long, Rod Emory, and Jeff Zwart again put their racing backgrounds to work on this car, labeled Luftauto 002.

Driving With E-Motion: LuftAuto #002

It’s a Sunday afternoon in late October. The sky is varying shades of grey, something I’m familiar with, but not something I would associate with Southern California. It’s only been a few hours since we wrapped an all-night shoot which documented the final assembly of Deity Motorsport’s McLaren MP4-12C, just before it was shipped to Nevada for the 2017 SEMA Show.

Project Nasty: What The Builders Drive

As cliche as it might sound, cars are indeed an extension of the people that own them. Whether it’s a Toyota Prius or a jacked-up pickup truck, what we drive says a lot about us. And if you happen to be a car enthusiast, then your automobile becomes much more than just a consumer choice – it’s something that defines you.

Is This Porsche Hot Rod The Ultimate Lightweight Narrow-Body 911?

When humans see red, their reactions become faster and more forceful. It’s a leftover primal piece of ourselves that’s been manifested in this 1985 Guards Red Porsche 911 Carrera, affectionately referred to as “Project Nasty.” I met this car and its owner Joey Seely of E-Motion Engineering several years earlier back when it was just a mildly stripped-down street car, so I’ve been able to follow its progress throughout the transformation. There is nothing stock about this Carrera anymore, as every fender and bushing has been massaged or replaced to suit the functions of speed and cornering (or more accurately, speed while cornering).

The Seely Setup – An Emotion Engineering-tuned Porsche 991 GT3

If my opinion counts for much, I'll firmly state: the Porsche 911 is the quintessential "sports car." Almost inexplicably, it exists in its own arena, filling the void between supercars and their road-going high performance consumer-tier counterparts. Porsche has made it clear that their entire ethos centers around driving enthusiasm, racing pedigree, and heritage in a way no other brand seems able to emulate…

Project 996 Turbo Gets KW’s Hydraulic Lift System

I think I can safely say that I have the most varied collection of project cars in the SH Garage. I have my 1970 240Z, also known as Ole Orange Bang. I have my 2007 6-speed manual FJ Cruiser off-road vehicle. And out of left field I have a 2003 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo X50. That’s one classic beater car, one off-road chase vehicle, and one German muscle car.
